Diffuse alopecia

Diffuse alopecia appears in both women and men; however, women are much more affected than men.
Diffuse hair loss can occur at any age and is characterized by thinning of the entire scalp, followed by thinning of the hair (the hair loses its density).

Diffuse hair loss is temporary; hair grows back providing the hair follicle remains active.

Causes of diffuse alopecia can be of both physical and psychological character:
Poor nutrition, vitamin deficiency, dietary disorders, disease (infections, metabolic disorders), medicines and medical treatment, hormonal effects (pregnancy, oral contraceptives), severe flu or surgery, hair treatments (excessive dyeing, bleaching, perming), psychological factors, stress situations or age.
