What are the active components of Revalid and how do they work?
Revalid contains aminoacids, vitamins and trace elements that are natural constituents of food. The active ingredients in Revalid favour the formation of keratin, ground constituent for nails and hair. Revalid exercises a favourable influence on the evolution of alopecia: it can partially stop hair loss or at least slow it down. Revalid makes nails less brittle.

What are the properties of the active constituents?
Cystine and Methionine (sulphur containing amino acids) are necessary for keratinogenesis - keratin is the principal structural substance of hair and nails.
Pantothenic acid is a compound of coenzyme A, playing role in metabolic processes in particular in tissues with rapid cell renewal.
Vitamins of the B-group are necessary for correct cells regrowth in tissues with rapid growth. They prevent excessive greasing of hair (seborrhoea) and help dandruff elimination.
Paraaminobenzoic acid is an important factor of pigment formation.
Minerals and trace elements fortify hair and nails and increase their hardness and resistance. The trace elements are in chelated form which enables their optimal absorption from the digestive tract.
The extracts from millet, wheat germ and dried brewers yeast are a natural source of further important amino acids, vitamins and trace elements.

How to take Revalid?
Unless prescribed otherwise, the usual dose for adults and children over 12 years is 1 capsule three times daily with enough liquid just during or after meals.

How long shall I take Revalid to see results?
The therapy should last at least three months and may be prolonged or repeated every 6 to 12 months.

In acute hair-loss case, can I take stronger dosage?
In acute case you can take 2 capsules three times daily for a period of one month; after that you return to the normal dosage 1 capsule three times daily. If you feel the efficacy of the drug is too weak or too strong, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.

If I forget one capsule in the day, do I have to double the next dosage?
No. Just skip the forgotten intake and go ahead as usual.

What is the maximum period of time in which Revalid can be used?
Revalid is usually very well tolerated and therefore suitable for long-term treatment.

Can children take Revalid?
Yes. Children over 12 years can take Revalid with usual dose 1 capsule three times daily.

Instead of one capsule 3 times daily, may I take for example 1 capsule in the morning and 2 at night with the same efficacy in the treatment?
Among other ingredients, Revalid contains water-soluble B-vitamins that can be stored only in very limited amounts by the body. Therefore, an intake three times a day is more efficient than two times a day or even than taking all three capsules at once.

Can men also take Revalid?
Yes. Revalid can be taken also by men. The effect of Revalid in men with diffuse alopecia is as described above. However, men mostly suffer from androgenetic alopecia or alopecia areata in these cases the effect of Revalid is limited to the strengthening of the remaining hair.

Can I take Revalid during pregnancy or breast-feeding?
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding woman, please consult your physician before you start taking Revalid.

Do I put on weight when taking Revalid?
No. 1 capsule = 0.035 fruit-equivalent (6.7kJ or 1.6 kcal). The daily dosage is 20.1kJ or 4.8kcal.

Does Revalid stimulate the growth of the body hair?
No. Revalid has no influence on the growth of body hair.

Are there any side effects associated with the intake of Revalid?
Revalid is usually very well tolerated and therefore suitable for long-term treatment. Occasionally at the dosage of 6 capsules daily slight digestive discomfort may occur. In that case reduce the dosage to 3 capsules daily.

When shall Revalid not be taken?
Do not take Revalid if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the active substances or any of the other ingredients. Revalid shall not be used by children under 12 years of age.

Can people with coeliatic disease take Revalid?
1 capsule of Revalid contains 1mg of gluten. Before taking Revalid, please consult your physician/gastroenterologist.

Is there any medicine interaction?
During treatment with sulfonamides, the therapy with Revalid should be interrupted (the activity of sulfonamides is inhibited by paraminobenzoic acid). Please tell your physician if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines without prescription.

What is the difference of Revalid versus multivitamins?
Revalid contains a well-balanced combination of essential active ingredients for the supply of the hair root to increase hair growth and to improve hair structure.

Does Revalid have also a favourable effect on nails?
Yes. Revalid contains essential active ingredients favouring the formation of keratin one of the main components of nails. Thus Revalid makes nails less brittle.
